Committed to the people of Surf City to do the right job.
John and his family have lived in Surf City over 11 years. After spending four years vacationing on Topsail Island, they knew Surf City was the perfect place to retire.
John spent 40 years working in the fields of construction and maintenance. “I know my career and my past experiences have helped me understand the growth and development of Surf City’s infrastructure needs.”
Prior to establishing full-time residency in Surf City, my wife and I owned and operated several small businesses. “Our previous businesses replicate the family owned businesses of Surf City". This is something I truly connect with and believe in—small business entrepreneurship. I am committed to the Town of Surf City business culture.
John was appointed to The Surf City Town Council in March of 2022. He currently serves as a Council Liaison to Parks and Recreation, Planning Board, Emergency Management and Promotions/Special Events and Tourism. “These liaison experiences have enlightened and educated me in the operations of a municipality.”
John regularly attends meetings for the following town committees:
● Board of Adjustments
● Beautification and Enhancement
● Technical Review
● Topsail Shoreline Protection Commission
“Volunteering in my community has always been my passion.” John’s passion has found him over the past 11 years as a previous member of Kiwanis of Topsail Island and an Advisory Board member of Parks and Recreation for the town of Surf City. John served for four years on Parks and Recreation and presided as Chairperson for a term. Other volunteer efforts and contributions include:
Kiwanis of Topsail Pancake Breakfast
Independence Day Celebration
Surf City Fall Festival
911 Memorial Bridge Walk
Autumn With Topsail
Surf City Live
